Born into a poor, hard working dwarven clan deep in the mountains of Rygna, Kilja Whurarr was the only girl and the last of several children. Kilja had no luxuries growing up, but was well enough provided for. From an early age she was trained in the tradition war axes of her clan. Soon she was better than all her brothers and longed for not only the glory of battle, but also the wealth that glory could bring. Wealth to help her impoverished clan and provide for the children she one day hoped to have.

An opportunity for battle and wealth came when she left her clan holdings for M’Benga to the south. There she encountered a Baravian Imperial outpost. She signed up at the recruiter’s office and was assigned to the 5th Expeditionary Army sailing for Aerne. Kilja’s fighting skills with her dual war axes earned her a place as a squad heavy in the Ghost Wolves of the 9th Company. Some of the Company challenges her dwarven sensibilities (half elves, for example), but loyalty to her superior officers and, respect for her fellow soldiers, and the need to provide more for her clan and family make this a non-issue.
